Meet the Team

Christian Stegmaier is a shareholder and chair of the firm's Retail/Hospitality/Entertainment Practice Group. In addition to his litigation practice, Christian is an active appellate advocate. Christian also is Professor of Hotel & Restaurant Law at the College of Hospitality, Retail & Sport Management at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining Collins & Lacy, Christian served as a law clerk for the Honorable Ralph King Anderson, Jr., Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. Joey McCue is a senior shareholder with Collins & Lacy and chair of the firm's Construction Practice Group. Joey's practice primarly focuses on construction, transportation, premises liability and pesticide litigation.  Prior to joining Collins & Lacy in 1997, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Paula H. Thomas.  Joey also has 10 years of experience in sales and as a business owner. His reputation in the courtroom and professional standing as an attorney are highly rated by his peers, according to Martindale-Hubbell.

Bennett Crites is a shareholder with Collins & Lacy practicing in products liability, premises liability, automobile negligence, defamation, insurance bad faith and commercial trucking law. Bennett has experience in litigating cases from minor injury to wrongful death and catastrophic injury. Super Lawyers® has identified Bennett as a Rising Star®. Prior to joining Collins & Lacy, Bennett was an attorney with a law firm in Charleston, South Carolina. He also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable R. Markley Dennis, Jr. and has corporate experience in the financial sector. Bennett earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the Citadel.

Amy Neuschafer is an associate practicing in appellate advocacy, retail/hospitality/entertainment defense and premises liability.  During law school, Amy provided editorial and research assistance to Professor David G. Owen for Products Liability Law, as well as several other articles and publications.  Prior to joining Collins & Lacy in 2007, Amy served as a Staff Attorney for the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Charles Appleby is an associate practicing in employment law and retail/hospitality/entertainment liability. In his employment practice, Charles represents employers from all types of industries in litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Charles has represented clients in Circuit Court, United States Federal Court, and has appeared regularly before the South Carolina Employment Securities Commission and Appeals. Charles, originally from Columbia, SC, graduated from the University of Florida and received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  While in law school, he served as the Student Bar Association President and initiated the inaugural University of South Carolina School of Law Career Week.  He was also a member of the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court.  Charles worked as a law clerk for Collins & Lacy prior to joining the firm in 2007.

Claude T. Prevost is an associate practicing in construction defect litigation, professional liability, retail/hospitality/entertainment law including negligent work allegations and premises liability law including "slip and fall" cases. During law school, Claude served as a summer intern for The Honorable Sol Blatt, Jr. in Charleston in 2006. During the summer of 2007, Claude served as a summer intern for The Honorable Bristow Marchant in Columbia while also working as a law clerk for Collins & Lacy.  Claude performed 300 hours of Pro Bono work during law school prior to joining Collins & Lacy in 2008.

Kristian Cross is an associate with Collins & Lacy practicing in workers' compensation, employment law and retail/hospitality/entertainment law. In addition to her position on the South Carolina Bar Workers’ Compensation Committee, Kristian serves on the executive board of Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands. Kristian received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina, where she served as the Secretary of the Student Bar Association, as well as the Academic Assistance Program Property Tutor. During law school, she also served as a law clerk for Collins & Lacy and another local firm.  Prior to joining Collins & Lacy in 2010, Kristian worked as an attorney for a Columbia-based firm practicing in the areas of business, commercial and insurance litigation.
